Go Local Membership: The Perfect Gift for Real Estate Agents to Provide Clients

Moving to Austin, or even moving into a new neighborhood within Austin, can seem overwhelming. Have no worries though, Go Local can help ease that stress by allowing your clients and tenants to feel more welcomed into their region of town. When you provide them with a Go Local Membership, you're giving them access to find only locally-owned businesses near their home and all over greater Austin. What's even better? They gain access to a deal at every business on our directory, ensuring that "insider access" feeling. I love seeing the eyes of nearby tables light up when I order a bucket of beer and receive a free triple dipper (queso, guac, and salsa) at Rustic Tap for all my friends. Who doesn't appreciate the person who hooks everyone up with free queso?!

What Does "Keep Austin Weird" Mean?

For decades, "Keep Austin Weird" has been a slogan thrown around town that people love to get behind.

If you're unaware, "Keep Austin Weird is the slogan adopted by the Austin Independent Business Alliance to promote small businesses in Austin, Texas. It is intended to promote local businesses and is inspired by comments made by Red Wassenich in 2000 while giving a pledge to an Austin radio station."

- Yonan, Joe (March 27, 2011). "Can Austin stay weird? It was originated in Oregon in 1983 and later adopted by". Washington Post. Archived from the original on November 4, 2013.

Adapting with the Times

There is no arguing that Austin has grown at an eye-opening accelerating rate, but the heart and soul still remains at the core of local businesses in this city. Since March 2020, local businesses all over the world have been faced with challenges that they never anticipated. I personally had the opportunity to speak with many local business owners throughout the pandemic in Austin, and something everyone had in common was the agreement that local is better. That's why even though we have adopted into a fully-digital platform, our mission of making communities stronger remains the same.

Everything From Home Services to SUP Rentals

Our platform represents small businesses of all sorts. Homeowners can benefit by finding local roofing companies like Sutton Roofing Co. and moving companies like Mountain Movers. For shopping lovers we have jewelry stores, local boutiques, art & souvenir stores. Queso is a staple appetizer in Austin, and many amazing tex-mex restaurants like Hula Hut provide Go Local members with a free queso, you have to love that! Call me crazy, but I can't think of anything much better than a free queso with a Hula Hut sunset in the summertime. Aside from home services, boutique shops, and amazing restaurants, you'll find a plethora of cool things for the family to enjoy. Epic SUP provides 10% on paddle board rentals, while we have other rentals from electric bikes, e-foil board lessons, boats of all sorts, party buses, and more. If you're not convinced by now, you can even find an event venue for your next wedding or birthday party at places like 71 West Ranch Retreat.

At the end of the day, our goal is to provide Go Local members with insider access to the best local experiences. We are connecting all people of Austin, newcomers and natives, to create bonds that make our communities stronger and to put money back into our local economy. Together, we can help "Keep Austin Weird" and eventually help connect people with local businesses in several cities around our nation. Let's Go Local!
